PROTECTOR VADO emerged in response to a request by the Barcelona Garage and Parking Guild to improve vehicle access to car parks with high-frequency customer rotation in city building basements. It is built in granite grey pre-cast reinforced concrete, and its design uses the same anchorage system for movement prevention as the bus platforms. The triangular shape of this protector adapts to the vehicle entry and exit directions.
Its low height poses no danger to the undercarriage of vehicles parking in front of it. Like the BUS platforms, PROTECTOR DE VADO includes horizontal grooves and reflective paint to make them visible in the dark. This protector is used to prevent parked vehicles from obstructing others as they entering or leaving the parking zone. Regulated by an agreement with the Barcelona City Council, this new element is aimed at improving the devices already in use in other cities.
PLATAFORMA BUS, PROTECTOR DE VADO and SEGREGADOR DE CARRIL DE BICICLETA are three formulations that satisfy common city requirements and improve mobility.
They were designed by architect Enric Pericas in conjunction with Escofet for installation as a pioneer project in the city of Barcelona.
