MONOLITO is a piece of street furniture that simply guides passes-by, without competing with the shape of its surroundings. It is composed of a square concrete base containing a slot on one side to insert steel sheeting with baked-on paint, ready to receive painted or adhesive images. The weight and self-stabilising condition of this unit allows it to be installed on pavements without anchorage. The design facilitates its adaptation to sloping ground with a threaded bolt height adjustment mechanism.
Designed for easy forklift or pallet transportation, it complies with European wind resistance requirements for any vulnerable setting. MONOLITO was created for Escofet in 2004 by Ramón Farré-Escofet and Joan Claudi Minguell to signpost the Barcelona Culture Forum esplanade.
