To provide tourists, driven to the newly regenerated waterside by a significant investment plan, with context and historical information and orientation.
Approach
Driven by the client's requirement to heavily promote the town's identity whilst providing safety from potential hidden threats, the monolith had to be designed with both aesthetic and functional value. Acrylic was chosen as the material to enable this -
Result
The acrylic insert was used to ensure transparency on the monolith and was engraved with the town coat of arms to provide a stunning floating map effect. The installation still looks incredibly impactful, with no degradation to the materials.
